YL Clothes takes on made-to-measure and adjustment work for men's and women's garments. We begin with a conversation about how the garment will be worn, the fabric and the finish you want, then assess what the construction can support.
What we make and adjust
Garments built around the person wearing them.
Tailoring can mean a new made-to-measure garment or a careful adjustment to one you already own. Either way, the work starts with the fabric, the fit and an honest discussion about the finish.
Pants
Fit through the waist, seat and leg, with the hem finished to the break you prefer. Pleats, pockets and an existing waistband are checked before the shape is changed.
Shirts
Collar, cuffs, sleeve length and body fit, made or adjusted to suit the way you wear the shirt. Fabric drape and pattern matching influence what the finished shirt can look like.
Suits and jackets
Made-to-measure suits and jacket adjustments, with attention to shoulders, lining, buttonholes and the balance of the front. Structured jackets have limits, and we will explain them.
Traditional garments
Baju Kurung, Baju Melayu, saree blouses, kurta and cheongsam, made or adjusted with care for the fabric, embroidery and finishing details. Each garment is assessed on its own.
Uniforms and workwear
Uniform tailoring for individuals and businesses, assessed per garment. Company work is subject to assessment, mutual agreement and availability.
Curtains and sofa covers
Made-to-measure curtains and sofa covers are also part of the shop's work. Bring the measurements, a photograph of the space and the fabric you have in mind so the details can be discussed.
If you are unsure whether a garment is better adjusted or remade, bring it in. We will compare the two options and tell you which is likely to give the result you want.
The conversation
Measurements are only the beginning.
A good garment has to work with your posture, the way you move and the occasions you are dressing for. We talk through those things before choosing a shape, a fabric or a finish.
- How you want the garment to fit — close, relaxed or somewhere in between.
- The weight and drape of the fabric, and whether it suits the design.
- Structure such as shoulders, lining and interfacing, and the limits they set.
- The finish: seams, topstitching, buttons and buttonholes, hems and pressing.
We do not quote made-to-measure work from a photograph alone. Fabric, posture and the intended fit need to be discussed in person before scope, price and timing are confirmed.

Conversation and measurements
We discuss the garment, the fit you want and the way you will wear it, then take measurements and look at reference pieces.
Fabric and design
Fabric, lining, details and finish are chosen or assessed. The scope, price and timing are confirmed before making begins.
Making and fitting
The garment is made or adjusted, with a fitting where needed so the fit can be checked before the final finishing.
Collection and final check
Try the finished garment on and check that the fit, length and details are as agreed.

Do you make suits from scratch?
Tailoring here covers made-to-measure garments as well as adjustments to clothing you already own. A suit is a detailed piece; bring your ideas and we will discuss what is possible, the fabric and the finish before agreeing the work.
Can I supply my own fabric?
You can bring fabric for us to assess. Not every fabric suits every design, and some need more support or a different lining. We will tell you honestly if it is a good match for the garment you have in mind.
Can you copy a favourite garment?
Bring the garment with you. We can use it as a reference and discuss how closely it can be followed, but an exact copy depends on the fabric, construction and the details you want to keep.
How long does made-to-measure work take?
There is no fixed timeline. Timing depends on the design, fabric and fittings, and is confirmed after we have discussed the work. We will tell you what to expect before you commit.
Do you alter suits bought elsewhere?
Yes. Bring the suit in and we will assess the shoulders, lining and seams before agreeing any changes. Some structured jackets allow more adjustment than others.
Do you handle uniforms and business tailoring?
Yes. Uniform work and business tailoring enquiries are welcome, subject to assessment, mutual agreement and availability. Send the garment type, quantity and requested changes through the business enquiry form.
